OUR STORY
  • THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE is a charter member of Major League Baseball’s National League. Since 1876, the team has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee sign, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916, making it the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball.
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:
The Safety and Security Officer provides a safe and pleasant environment for all visitors, guests, and employees at all Chicago Cubs Properties. The Safety and Security Officer performs proactive safety and security functions when coping with safety hazards, undesired behavior, disturbance, crime, threats to life and/or property. The Safety and Security Officer is an integral part of the Cubs organization and will assist other departments, vendors, and agencies as needed. In all situations, the Officers perform their duties in a courteous, professional, and restrained manner, through legal methods approved by law and adhere to Chicago Cubs policies. Departmental placement of successful applicants will be determined per required qualifications and through the screening and selection process.
This position is designated as an "essential employee" and may be required to stay beyond regular work hours and/or report in from off-duty to assist with minimum staffing coverage.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Conducts the required patrols as outlined by post instructions and/or by the shift Supervisor. In a manner that is investigative, complete, and competent and aligned to the standards of the Chicago Cubs, ensuring that the properties remain safe and secure.
  • Responsible for maintaining order on the property, utilizing respect, care and to the greatest extent possible, positive customer service in dealing with guests, visitors, employees, and contractors/vendors.
  • Responsible for ensuring that trespassers and undesirable individuals are kept off of the property, utilizing the legal methods as outlined in Cubs policies and procedures. Take recommended action to deal with undesired conduct and law violations in compliance with established policy.
  • Prepared to take immediate and appropriate action in responding to emergency situations.
  • Submit well-written and comprehensive reports outlining facts regarding complaints, observations, actions taken and investigative findings.
  • Advise the Supervisor and the Director of Safety and Security Operations of all activities that would be deemed of interest, importance and/or of concern regarding the property or any activity on or around Chicago Cub's Properties.
  • Perform frequent interior and exterior patrols, monitor alarms and security, cameras, control access, receive/transfer incoming calls, receive/log incoming packages/mail, and document safety/security violations and/or hazards.
  • Complete all duties and posts as otherwise assigned in a timely, professional, and in a service focused manner.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
  • Excellent organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities, deliver effective results, and consistently meet tight deadlines and targets.
  • Understands the need for information integrity and pays attention to maintaining accurate and timely information.
  • An effective communicator orally and written, with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to address and resolve conflict including but not limited to verbal and physical tactics.
  • Ability to operate under pressure, tolerate stress and handle re-prioritizations. 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail including time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to build a career in the safety and security industry.
  • Able to perform the following physical tasks: bend, squat, kneel, twist, climb flights of stairs, walk on uneven ground, walk/run up and down ramps, walk and stand for extended periods of time, assist patrons up and down stairs, wipe down seats in sections daily, and give appropriate directions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis and lift up to 50lbs on an occasional basis.
  • High school diploma, and two-years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
