job title: Special Needs Caregiver: Are you looking to work one-on-one with a special needs adult? We are looking for an LVN or RN who wants to be a part of our adult family member's healing journey!! He is technically a quadriplegic but can assist with transfers and walks with assistance. He has cognitive challenges so this is a great position for a patient, fun-loving person with a teaching heart. He is active all day as well so this is also a position for someone who likes to keep busy! He is healthy and happy and loves to sing and joke around as well as keep physically active. We take him surfing occasionally, he earned a blue belt in jiu jitsu right before the pandemic began and has regular personal training and physical therapy sessions. He is non-verbal but we also work on helping him communicate as he has great receptive language and understanding of what you are saying to him. A sense of humor is highly valued as well as a nurturing heart. We are looking for someone to join our team! All of our nurses and caregivers have been with our family member long-term. This is a home-care position and would require that you assist him with all ADL's as well as meal prep, laundry, bathing, etc. Our family member is on a g-tube for intake of all fluids. Currently need someone to fill an 8-hour shift on Wednesdays and there are 8- or 12-hour shifts available Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No overnight shifts. Looking for someone who wants to make a long-term commitment 2-3 days per week. Experience with cognitive disability, reliability and professionalism important.
