The Chewonki Foundation is seeking Summer Expeditors (Residential) to join the Chewonki Team! The Summer Expeditor position plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and timely service to our participants and staff, with the opportunity to work in a fun camp environment!

Location : Wiscasset, Maine (On Campus, in-person, Residential)

Schedule / Approximate 2024 Dates : June 9, 2024 - August 11, 2024

Reports to : Kitchen Manager

Salary : $15 / Hour

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Residential Responsibilities

This is a residential position that requires flexibility in schedule to cover shifts, as necessary.

Execution of meals

Serving East Side meals and snacks at scheduled times for programs, staff, and various events.

Coordinating delivery of food from the West Side kitchen to the East Side.

Setting up and managing buffet service on the East Side including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Communicating dietary and allergy components of each dish to the participants and staff.

Providing food facts, to be shared at the beginning of lunch service prior to eating.

Completing a menu board, to be finished prior to service and displayed for participants and staff.

Provide service and guidance to Camp staff and participants as needed.

Cleaning

Maintain kitchen cleanliness throughout shift, properly store leftovers, and clean up after meals

Reduce waste, compost, and recycle according to Chewonki’s procedures.

Food safety, sanitation, and hygiene

Comply with the State of Maine and American Camp Association standards for food service operations.

A willingness to work as a team member among the Kitchen and Camp Program and the greater Chewonki community.

Responding to and / or alerting the appropriate person(s) when you see something that may compromise safety.

Assume other responsibilities as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Ability to visually and auditorily identify and respond to all hazards on site and respond appropriately to camper and staff behavior.

Maintain physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing / walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more).

Must be able to work in hot conditions.

Must be able to safely use kitchen equipment, including knives, slicers, food processors and mixers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 17 years of age.

Commercial kitchen experience preferred, preferably in an institutional setting.

Current ServSafe® or food handler certification is desirable.

Knowledge of food allergies and special dietary requirements desirable.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
