Chesterfield County is Hiring an Employment Specialist Near Chesterfield, VA

Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, marketing, or a related human services field; one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities in community settings preferred. Experience documenting services in an electronic record format preferred, as well as completion of billing paperwork for these services. Knowledge of supported employment, systematic instruction, and behavioral intervention necessary. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.The Employment Specialist will provide direct training, support, and advocacy to adults with intellectual disabilities in group and individual employment settings. These individuals may also have other disabilities. Functions include job development, assessment, job site training and documentation and monitoring. Additionally, there is a strong customer service component to this position. This person will work with community businesses, state agencies, families, and other programs. Hours include days and evenings Monday - Friday, with occasional weekend work possible as consumer placement needs dictate. Perform other work as required.
