ASSISTANT FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER

What We’re Looking For:
Chester Valley Golf Club is looking for a dedicated Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to oversee the dining and bar areas across CVGC’s facilities. The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for all day-to-day member and banquet services. In addition, develop and implement operation procedures for the Food & Beverage Department. They will work closely with and handle additional tasks as requested by the Food & Beverage management team. CVGC is looking for a Floor Supervisor who will work independently, as well as part of a team, with flexibility and eagerness to learn and to take initiative on a variety of responsibilities.
Job Tasks/Duties:
- Hires, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates dining room staff.
- Monitors time, attendance and hours of service staff.
- Provides appropriate reports concerning employee hours, schedules, pay rates, job changes, tip pools, etc.
- Serves as liaison between the dining room and kitchen staff.
- Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment, and fixtures; checks the maintenance of all equipment in the dining room and reports deficiencies and maintenance concerns.
- Makes suggestions about improvements in dining room service procedures and layout.
- Maintains and updates Staff Training Manuals with current service and procedures.
- Onboards new staff using training manual and onboarding checklist.
- Uses training manual for daily shift meeting training, ongoing training, etc.
- Trains staff on all aspects of the POS system.
- Maintains an inventory of dining room items including silverware, coffee pots, water pitchers, glassware, flatware, China, salt and pepper holders, sugar bowls and linen and ensures that they are properly stored and accounted for.
- Develops and maintains the dining room reservation system.
- Monitors dining room labor and supplies budget; adjusts to achieve financial goals.
- Develops and continually updates and refines policy and procedure manuals for service staff to increase quality and to control costs.
- Works with Executive Chef to update, review and print weekly menu changes.
- Assists in developing wine lists and beverage promotions.
- Maintains professional attire and appearance standards while at the club
- Assures that the club’s policies and procedures for selling alcoholic beverages are consistently followed in all beverage outlets and at all club functions.
- Maintaining inventory with Food & Beverage Director of all beverages so they are at a par level.
- Performing end of month inventory with Food & Director and Head Bartender in a timely fashion; on last day of the month or first day of the new month.
- Assists with completing Banquet setups as needed.
- Performs special projects as assigned by the Food and Beverage Director.
- Will attend scheduled staff meetings.
- May serve as the Club’s opening and closing manager or manager of duty.
- May perform duties of a dining room manager on occasion.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

- Ensures all Club rules and standards are met by Members and their guests. Communicates to supervisor/Board of Governors when they are not.
- Assures a high standard of appearance, hospitality, and service in lounge areas.
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of department and daily club operation, including scheduled events and operating hours.
- Acts ethically and honestly at all times.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions, as well as noisy environments.
- Independent mobility throughout the clubhouse.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Must have a high level of physical fitness.
- Must be comfortable completing continuous repetitive motions.
- Unusual working conditions: May be scheduled nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime; may work indoors or outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; working with wet/slippery floors, sharp objects, fumes and electrical equipment.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate degree or higher in hospitality management or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of service management experience (required)
- Extensive knowledge of the private club industry’s food and beverage operations (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of beverage areas, including mixology, food/wine pairings and wine presentation/service.
- Extensive knowledge of the private club industry’s food and beverage operations (preferred)
- Must have open availability for flexible scheduling.
- Must have an approachable disposition.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Jonas software system (preferred, but not required).
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Current ServSafe Food safety certification (preferred)
- Must be 18 years or older to remain in compliance with the legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages in PA.
- Current RAMP Alcoholic beverage certification.
