A vacancy for a full-time Head Start Preschool Assistant position exists within the Head Start Program in the Division of Student Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This is a 190 day position, working with preschoolers, and will be located in Coatesville.

Qualifications:

CDA or Associates Degree
Previous exprience working in a childcare/preschool setting preferred
Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
Current (within one year) police, child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required
Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)

Duties & Responsibilities:

To assist the Child Development Specialist in planning and executing early childhood activities
Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with adults and children
Assist the teacher in carrying out the duties of caring for children

The new Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) require vaccination against COVID-19 for all staff working directly with children. The HSPPS require these individuals to be vaccinated by January 31, 2022. This means staff must have their second dose in a two-dose series or first in a single-dose series by January 31, 2022. Head Start programs may allow exemptions to the vaccination requirement for those who cannot be vaccinated due to medical conditions. For those granted a vaccine exemption, there will be a weekly testing requirement. Without an approved vaccine exemption, there is no option for testing in lieu of receiving the vaccine. Salary Range:
$16.00 to $21.00 per hour; based on years of experience
Location:
Gordon Early Literacy Center, 351 Kersey St. Coatesville, PA 19320
Schedule:
7.5 hours per day; 5 days per week; 190 days a year
