Public Health Educator 2: A full time position is available at the Grainger County Health Department (county position). The position will also travel and work 2-3 days per week at the Union County Health Department.

This is very responsible work involving the delivery of health-related educational programs and services for the regional and local Health Department.

• Activities associated with the job include counseling clients on basic health information in one-on-one or group settings, assessing clients’ general health status and plans and implementing evidence-based programs/initiatives to address chronic disease prevention and management.
• Additional activities include documenting information associated with clients’ care plans, identifying individuals and agencies within the community that can offer assistance to clients, interacting with community agencies to identify and address unmet health related needs for targeted populations and promoting community health related educational programs.

Requirements:

• Require graduation from an accredited college or university with a B.A. (B.S.) degree in health education, biology or related field, and experience equivalent to one year of full-time professional health education work (qualifying full-time experience in health education work may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years).
• Certified Health Education Specialist preferred.
• Additional requirements include considerable knowledge of available health and nutritional programs and services, strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
