Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (CVSS) is seeking a full-time  individual who has completed (or soon to complete) a veterinary sports medicine residency training to join our team in Hunt Valley. CVSS is a well established surgical practice in Maryland with 3 locations in Annapolis, Columbia and Hunt Valley. Our team consists of 4 rehab therapists (3 of them are DVMs), 7 board certified small animal surgeons and 1 surgeon that will be taking boards in 2024. 4 residents and 3 surgical interns. We are an ACVS Practice Partner and have a strong surgical residency program with 100% pass rate for all residents that have completed the program. 

Our practices are partnered with a variety of progressive specialty teams at each location under a collective title of Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center and include: internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, emergency/critical care, neurology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, and rehabilitation. Our emergency clinics provide 24 hr emergency care overnight and on the weekends to all hospitalized patients. We are committed to supporting a work-life balance for our staff. 

Our facilities are state of the art with the completion of our new 48,000 sq ft. location in Hunt Valley opened in 2023. We have a very large space that could be dedicated to a Sports Medicine department. We are open to acquiring additional equipment that would benefit in growing a Sports Medicine department.

Our facilities feature Shockwave therapy, Class IV Lasers, Ultrasound, Underwater Treadmills, Land Treadmills, digital radiography, MRI, CT, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, radiation oncology & HBOT. Our practice caseload is 50% orthopedics, 45% soft tissue, and 5% neurologic.

We are looking for a candidate that is outgoing and enthusiastic to help us start and grow a Sports Medicine department.

Candidates must have successfully completed (or about to complete) a small animal sports medicine residency and be prepared

to apply to take the ACVSMR certification examination in 2025 or 2026 if not already board certified. Excellent communication skills, team player and the ability to provide the highest level of patient care are expected. We offer an excellent benefits package including 100% coverage of Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO, 401K matching, 2-4 weeks vacation, 8-10 weeks paid time off for boards and paid board fees, paid ACVSMR dues and local dues and licensing fees, $200,000.00 guaranteed base salary with 24%-28% production (depending on if boarded and length of time boarded) and a signing bonus.
