Summary:
The Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA), under the directing and supervision of the registered nurse, is responsible for providing individualized nursing care based on the established standards of nursing practice. This requires assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and therapeutic communication accomplished through interventions based on clinical knowledge and skill. Recognizing a versatile patient population, the Registered Nurse Applicant will partner with the patient, the patient's family and other healthcare team members to support the patient's optimal wellbeing. The RNA will not take physician orders nor administer intravenous push medications. The RNA position is a transitional position to the Registered Nurse Residency position; valid Registered Nurse licensure is a requirement for transition.

Education and Experience:
Minimum Required Education: Graduation from an an accredited Registered Nurse Program with documentation of application to take the RN state boards in the Commonwealth of VA or compact state.
Experience: Inpatient experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Applicant must be eligible to take the state board licensure exam for Registered Nurse and hold current BLS certification
