Summary The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of the department and upholds clinical practice standards for the department. The supervisor provides positive leadership and problem- solving skills and is responsible for the continuous quality improvement, budgeting, customer and staff feedback and staff training and development. Supervisor is responsible for the national program certification renewal process.# Essential Duties and Responsibilities Hire, supervise, schedule, and evaluate cardiopulmonary rehab staff, interns, and volunteers. Evaluate and establish a safe exercise program for each patient referred to the Cardiopulmonary Rehab program. Responsible for all service-related activities of the department. Maintain and update LSI (Cardiopulmonary Rehab telemetry monitoring) and EPIC (electronic medical record) systems as related to cardiopulmonary rehab. Participate in continuing educational programs and seminars to maintain current competency in cardiovascular care and cardiac rehab related concepts. Communicate regularly with participants, medical director, and primary care physicians regarding progress, or problems and plan of care. Utilize appropriate judgment in making clinical decisions and when to initiate emergency medical procedures. # Report program measures that fall in line with the organization#s operational excellence model. Responsible for completing the renewal application for AACVPR national certification. Knowledge and general use of Microsoft software, EPIC and LSI. Maintain working order of all equipment, including defibrillator, code cart and oxygen tanks daily partnering with bio-med. Supervise and direct student interns from undergraduate and graduate exercise programs. Work closely with Cardiopulmonary Medical Directors on policies and procedures pertaining to patient continuum of care. Coordinate clinical care, lead exercises classes, and supervise the education of outpatients in the Lifestyle Center Conduct inpatient education and coordinate referrals to the rehab program including communications with physicians and medical staff. Conduct continuous EKG monitoring and interpret patient rhythms prior to, during, and after exercise. Initiate and update the standards of care within the time frame allotted; routinely utilize this plan as the basis for nursing care and documentation. Help to develop and implement program policies and procedures for all outpatient rehab clients. Develop exercise prescriptions and maintain a clinical chart on every patient enrolled in rehab while monitoring the rate of progression through the program. Develop, schedule, and implement ongoing education lectures for cardiac and pulmonary patients. Schedule other tests as needed for the patient, including the dietitian, social worker, physical therapist, CDE, and/or vocational rehab. Support groups related to the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab program, i.e., attends special events, support groups, gives a talk during heart month (February), etc. Schedules patient assessments and orientation prior to entering program. Conducts and documents monthly emergency drills, equipment checks, and performs preventative maintenance. Ensures departmental compliance with ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) and AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation) guidelines and recommendations. Assist in managerial duties, as assigned, in the absence of the Director. Non-Nursing Education and Experience Minimum Required Education: Bachelor#s degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiotherapy, or related field 2-3 years of experience in cardiac rehabilitation preferably with telemetry Must be able to take blood pressures, use emergency equipment such as defibrillator, AED, and oxygen tank. ACSM certification or equivalent BLS certification Preferred Education: BSN or higher degree Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Applicants must be registered to work as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia and must have current BLS and ACLS certifications. Minimum Required Education: Graduate from an accredited Registered Nurse program in the State of Virginia associate degree. Experience: 2 years in the ICU, CCU, Emergency Department, or Cardio Rehab facility, plus 1 years in telemetry monitoring and stress testing. Preferred Education: Master#s degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiotherapy, or related field. Nursing Education and Experience
