Principal or designee.
SUMMARY:
The ECE speech language pathologist will assess and provide intervention to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Develops and promotes good relations among community and school clientele. Direct speech language services provided within inclusive settings for students with Part B under IDEA, with consultation to regular and/or special education staff, and to parents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists in early identification of student's speech-language impairments.
a. Conducts valid speech-language assessments according to professional standards.
b. Conducts nonbiased culturally responsive assessments.
2. Develop comprehensive IEP's, progress monitor, including ESY eligibility.
3. Plan and develop intervention programs and/or services to students.
a. Provide intervention strategies to support the teaching process and to assist speech and language learning.
b. Works effectively with others to integrate speech-language goals within the curriculum.
c. Provides culturally responsive interventions that complement the students' cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
d. Monitors student progress and adjust instruction as appropriate.
e. Evaluates program effectiveness/success.
f. Delivers services consistent with the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA) and Colorado Department of Education (CDE) ethical principles and professional standards of practice.
g. Ability to work with children with oral motor, feeding and eating issues.
h. Assist in the development and implementation of schedules and work systems.
I. Support preschool classroom, including ability to manage classroom. environment and modify/adapt classroom activities to ensure successful communication for identified students.
j. Encourage pragmatic language development and peer interactions.
4. Provides current information and programs to decrease the occurrence of speech and language problems.
5. Works effectively with parents to assist with generalization of skills across settings. Develops positive rapport and ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, outside agencies, and parent community.
6. Communicates with parents regarding child's needs, progress, programming, and strategies.
7. Schedules student services to maximize the use of time and resources and manages caseload.
8. Maintains progress records on each student and completes paperwork in a timely manner according to legal requirements and district expectations.
9. Demonstrates ability to work within a trans-disciplinary environment.
10. Supports management of the classroom(s) environment.
11. Willing to support and actively participate in a professional learning community.
12 Provides training and monitoring of specific programming based on individual student needs.
13. Supports transitions to elementary school.
14. Maintain professional growth in areas of expertise to effectively serve students.
15. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The Cherry Creek School District complies with the rules and regulations set forth by the Colorado Department of Education in terms of hiring candidates who are currently licensed or endorsed in the appropriate content area.
1. Holds a valid Colorado School Speech-Language Pathologist Endorsement/License.
2. Proficiency in using technology.
3. Ability to work in a physical setting that requires frequent bending, floor-sitting, squatting
Hold an active National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program) account and provide NPI and Health First Colorado account information to the Office of Human Resources and the District Medicaid office.
