JOB SUMMARY: Perform effective teaching methods to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.

 1. Strong knowledge of content related to life skills, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to secondary learners.

2. Demonstrate the ability to gather, interpret and evaluate data for the purpose of program modification and interventions.

3. Strong communication, organization and planning skills.

4. Positively impact achievement and differentiate services based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.

5. Ability to work with a diverse student population.

6. Demonstrate problem solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, parents and administrators.

7. Demonstrate skills in supervision of students.

8. Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality.

9. Demonstrated ability to form relationships with students and to serve as an academic coach/mentor.

10. Willing to support and actively participate in a professional learning community.

11. Participate collaboratively in teaching teams to design curriculum and assessments, and pursue best teaching practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Student teaching/practicum/internship experience that meets or exceeds Colorado's requirements
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Basic classroom management and planning skills
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills
  • Ability to align curriculum and assessments with state content standards
  • Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
  • Ability to assume leadership in the development and communication of programs and curriculum
  • Ability and desire to work as a team member
  • Ability to actively participate in a Professional Learning Community
  • Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to serve as a role model and an innovative and creative learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge that stays on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire

 MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSESThe minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license
  • Appropriate endorsements or equivalent in the content field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses

  • Formal education beyond a Bachelor’s degree
  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
  • Experience advising school clubs/co-curricular activities
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
