SUPERVISOR: Senior Control Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Continuously monitor the District's energy usage and adjust controls, sequences, and operations to minimize energy usage. Troubleshoot and repair of control systems including direct digital controls (DDC) and electric and pneumatic controls. Develop and implement training courses to assist heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) personnel. Maintain records of all district control systems and associated programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.

  • Assist HVAC Technicians to eliminate control problems. [Daily, 15%]
  • Perform inspections on new installations to ensure that systems meet the required standards. [Daily, 15%]
  • Evaluate control systems and adjust as required to maximize energy savings and comfort. [Daily, 10%]
  • Develop, implement, and manage HVAC training programs for staff. [Daily, 10%]
  • Maintain updated drawings and other documentation on all districts control systems. [Daily, 10%]
  • Coordinate with district control vendors to ensure proper sequence of operations. [Daily, 10%]
  • Oversee the Controls and Preventative Maintenance teams. [Daily, 10%]
  • Mandatory participation in on-call services for your department. [Daily, 10%]
  • Perform minor installations of new controls systems. [Daily, 5%]
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
  • Two (2) years of HVAC or building automation systems (BAS)/building management system (BMS)/DDC system work experience 
  • Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self Insurance Pool
  • Intermediate knowledge of DDC systems
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire

MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSESThe minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • Colorado driver’s license
  • United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 Technician certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses

  • Experience supervising employees
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Niagara 4 (N4) Technical certification
  • Basic knowledge of Automatrix, ABB Cylon, Delta Enteliweb, Niagara Controls Systems, and other DDC systems 
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
