JOB SUMMARY: Provide leadership and resources to assist District schools and staff with the goal of enhancing academic achievement, improving school climate, and embracing diversity, inclusion, and racial equity. Aid District schools to develop mutually supportive partnerships with all parents and community members, particularly with those that have been traditionally under-represented in District groups. Support the department in moving accountability for equity, culture, and community engagement from the peripheral to the core function of the organization. Serve as a member of the Administration Council (AdCo).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.

  • Lead programs and activities in conjunction with the District’s strategic initiatives and goals to increase the academic achievement of all students including students of color, multi-lingual learners, students who qualify for free and reduced lunches, and students who are under-represented in advanced courses. [Daily, 25%]
  • Ensure that themes and content critical to eliminating achievement disparities are well integrated into all curricula areas and instructional materials. Collaborate with District leadership, including school principals, to enhance the educational success of students of color, multi-lingual learners, and students who qualify for free and reduced lunches. [Daily, 15%]
  • Monitor District data related to the success of all students, particularly students of color, multi-lingual learners, and students who qualify for free and reduced lunches. [Weekly, 5%]
  • Partner and collaborate with Central Administration, Building Administration, teachers, and staff to promote equity and racial literacy. [Monthly, 25%]
  • Participate in community outreach services connecting with the diverse student, parent, and community population groups to create better communication and understanding among and between the District and its constituents. [Monthly, 10%]
  • Establish and maintain system for marshaling available district resources to facilitate the work of equity, culture, and community engagement. [Monthly, 5%]
  • Support the Office of Human Resources in the implementation of the District efforts to hire and retain a diverse certificated and non-certificated staff. [Monthly, 5%]
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent to provide annual reports to the Board of Education. [Annually, 5%]
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • Master's degree in education administration, curriculum leadership, or similar field
  • Five (5) years of experience in education administration or curriculum leadership
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience leading adult learning conversations about race, racial equity, intersectionality, and gender identity
  • Experience managing budgets and supervising staff
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis and curriculum and instruction
  • Advanced knowledge of and competence with the conceptual framework of culturally responsive education which incorporates curriculum design, philosophical goals for student success, curriculum content, instructional practices, and assessment instruments that are inclusive of racial, gender, ethnic, and cultural diversity
  • Advanced knowledge of and competence in developing and implementing programs and instructional practices that substantially improve the academic achievement of students of color, multi-lingual learners, students who qualify for free and reduced lunches, and students who are under-represented in advanced courses

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses

  • Experience as a school principal or district department-level administrator
  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Administrator/Principal license
  • Linguistically Diverse Education endorsement
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish
