Cherokee Regional Medical Center's hospital-based EMS service is seeking a professional, highly organized EMT to enrich our Emergency Department. EMTs roles include responding to 911 calls, transfers and assisting in ED.
POSITION: One toTwo 24 hour shifts per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess critical thinking skills along with the passion, drive and commitment to work in an emergency setting.
  • Certified EMT

Requirements
Education:
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited EMT program
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
License/Registration/Certification:
  • Required: Current, valid Iowa certification as EMT
  • Required: BLS Certifications
  • Required: NIMS ICS 100, 200, & 700 Certification
  • Required: Current and valid Iowa Driver's License
Experience:
  • Preferred: Experience in emergency medical service operations as well as the treatment of sick and injured patients in the prehospital and hospital setting as an EMT. Proficiently perform the skills outlined in the Iowa scope of practice for EMT Providers as well as the current operating guidelines in place by the service.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work and special projects.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong project management skills needed.
  • Ability to learn and use various community programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides routine and emergency care and treatment of ill and injured patients as an EMT, according to established written guidelines and/or per direct communication with Medical Control. Skills that EMTs are able to perform are clearly laid out in the Iowa scope of practice and current operating guidelines in place for the service.
  • Maintains the maintenance of the ambulances and the equipment carried on board.
  • Fills out the appropriate patient care reports for the run.
  • Maintains living and work areas and equipment.
  • Maintains certifications and continued education requirements.
