Equipment Planner (Medical Facilities)

The Equipment Planner at Cherokee Nation Federal Contracting (CNFC) plays a crucial role in providing equipment planning support to Government personnel within designated sites, projects, and facilities under the purview of the DHA Program Manager/Project Manager (PgM/PM). This role involves extensive coordination with various stakeholders, including representatives from DHA, USACE, parent organization, installation, and commercial manufacturers or suppliers. The Equipment Planner facilitates the timely planning and procurement of furniture, non-specialized equipment, and specialized laboratory/research equipment, ensuring compliance with Government specifications and project requirements.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Equipment Planner (Medical Facilities): $75 – 85K Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided.

Equipment Planner (Medical Facilities) Responsibilities Include: 

  • This role involves extensive coordination with various stakeholders, including representatives from DHA, USACE, parent organization, installation, and commercial manufacturers or suppliers. 
  • The Equipment Planner facilitates the timely planning and procurement of furniture, non-specialized equipment, and specialized laboratory/research equipment, ensuring compliance with Government specifications and project requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating equipment and systems reviews, conducting pre-final equipment site surveys, and evaluating equipment designs.
  • Review research and laboratory equipment construction submittals.
  • Provide technical advice and consultation on new equipment and system designs to meet special requirements and Government specifications.
  • Maintain coordination with construction contractors and parent facility organizations regarding equipment installation, certification, commissioning, training, and maintenance.
  • Attend vendor’s factory-based coordination meetings or demonstrations for all logistics categories of equipment.
  • Ensure planning of training, certification, commissioning, and maintenance is coordinated with parent facility Logistics staff.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of equipment-related elements of the Commissioning Plan.
  • Review O&M data and assist in developing plans for equipment sustainment post-building occupancy.
  • Identify and coordinate cyber security requirements associated with equipment.
  • Complete construction walk-throughs to validate utility, data connectivity, security, and space requirements.
  • Assist in the review and development of equipment-related Architect’s Supplemental Instructions (ASIs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • Assist in the development of IO&T services scope of work.
  • Coordinate with IO&T Contractor and parent facility staff in validating equipment requirements and reviewing in-use equipment for re-use.
  • Coordinate with USACE Construction Management staff to identify key equipment requirements.
  • Monitor procurement and installation of furniture and artwork.
  • Assist in maintaining project equipment database.
  • Coordinate processes for ordering, receipt, storage, and movement of new equipment.
  • Assist in room validation prior to final occupancy.
  • Monitor parent facility Capital Equipment Expense Program (CEEP) activities.
  • Coordinate equipment planning reviews with staff as required.
  • Assist in evaluating new equipment and systems for maintainability, life expectancy, safety, and functional appropriateness.
  • Develop supporting data and research logistics support requirements.
  • Monitor procurement schedules and provisioning of equipment/system items.
  • Maintain documentation on issues/problems/lessons learned for reports and briefings.
  • Provide technical advice and consultation on design of new equipment and systems.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Equipment Planner (Medical Facilities) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Logistics, or related field.
  • 4-6 years’ experience. Experience can be substituted for education. 
  • Prior experience in equipment planning, preferably in a government or military setting.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and equipment installation requirements.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., RMF/DIACAP).
  • Public Trust (NACI) clearance requirement. 
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
