Job Summary:

Provides services that enable students to have a successful educational experience by providing evaluation, consultation, and therapy for students having or suspected of having a disability.

Essential Functions:

1. Assists in the evaluations to ascertain the need for therapy
2. Assists with the preparation of written reports of evaluation with recommendations
3. Provides therapy in accord with IEP or district requirements
4. Participate in IEP meetings
5. Assists in selection and recommendations, with approval of supervisor, appropriate evaluation and therapy materials for use in the district
6. Consult with general and special education teachers regarding the needs of students with disabilities
7. Assists with planning and providing staff development on selected topics for both general and special education staff
8. Work with personnel of community and public health service agencies as necessary to ensure effective service and transitions
9. Assures compliance with local, state, and federal law, regulation, and/or policies of the district as applicable to area of service
10. Attends meetings, participates in staff developments as required by district
11. Maintains student records, Medicaid, and other documentation as required by district policies, practices, and in professional practice guidelines
12. Performs such other task as may from time to time be assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services for the effective operation of the district’s programs

Qualifications:

1. MUST BE CERTIFIED AS A SC LICENSED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT
2. COMPLETE APPLICATION ON FILE WITH REFERENCES
3. MINIMUM 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE SOME PEDATRIC PREFERRED
4. MUST PASS CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK
5. MUST PASS TUBERCULOSIS SCREENING PRIOR TO START DATE
