Housekeeper and Janitor

Chena Hot Springs, Fairbanks, Alaska

We are a medium-sized resort located sixty miles North-East of Fairbanks, Alaska, located in the Chena River State Recreation Area. Notable for our Hot Springs, we also offer a variety of outdoor activities, including Hiking, Camping, ATV/Snowmachine Tours, Dog Sled Rides, and Northern Lights Viewing during the Aurora Season. We also offer a restaurant and café, hotel, and gift shops.

Our Resort needs a strong team player who is able to be on the move constantly - This is a very physical job with repetitive motion. This job also has varied shifts in which you may be working different shifts depending on the amount of work and how busy we are. Some days you will be working with the housekeeping crew and some days you will be cleaning up around the resort. This is done on an as needed basis and is determined by your manager first. At some point you will be able to make your own schedule if you can prove that you are able to do so effectively. You will be required to cover for the night cleaner at the pool one day a week and also train for that position. This is a graveyard shift so you must be flexible enough to do a graveyard shift one day and then switch back over to a normal shift the next day.

The Housekeeper's duties include:

Sweep, scrub, mop, and polish floors.
Clean up the pool house
Clean up common areas and entryways
Be able to work on your own
Be able to work with a variety of strong chemicals.
Vacuum clean carpets, rugs and draperies.
Shampoo carpets, rugs and upholstery.
Dust and polish furniture and fittings.
Clean metal fixtures and fittings.
Empty and clean trash containers.
Dispose of trash in a sanitary manner.
Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs, and showers.
Wipe down glass surfaces.
Make up beds and change linens as required.
Tidy up rooms.
Wash windows as scheduled.
Sort, wash, load, and unload laundry.
Iron and press clothing and linen.
Sort, fold and put away clean laundry.
Operate mechanized cleaning equipment.
Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition.
Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements.

As with all jobs offered at Chena Hot Springs Resort, single- or double-occupancy housing with communal bathroom is provided, as is two hot meals a day and breakfast cereals. There are paid and free Wi-Fi services.
