Job Description

Position: Coop Student, Project Controls 

Primary Location: Remote 

Schedule: 40 hrs per week 

Reports To: Manager, Capital Procurement and Project Controls 

Compensation: $24-26 per hour

The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

About This Role and About You 

As a Graduate Coop Student in the Project Controls area of our Corporate Project Team, you will be instrumental in advancing our corporate project management system requirements, focusing specifically on project governance, data gathering, and reporting —all with an emphasis on safety. This position offers a unique opportunity to interface with Corporate Finance as well as Project Teams and Manufacturing Personnel across North America, contributing significantly to the safe execution of Chemtrade's annual capital program. This role is specifically targeted at candidates pursuing an MBA or Masters in Business Analytics, with an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, or Finance. 

Duration: Commitment to 4-or 8-month terms preferable 

Key Accountabilities: 

Advancing Project Governance Implementation 

  • Lead initiatives to refine and implement project governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and objectives. 
  • Interface directly with Project Managers to solicit estimation and scheduling files/formats currently being used, and synthesize / interpolate the data into newly created tools. Work with management to implement those tools 

Data Analysis and Interpretation 

  • Conduct in-depth data analysis using advanced analytical tools and methods to support strategic decision-making and enhance project reporting capabilities. 
  • Leverage skills in statistical analysis and predictive modeling to forecast project outcomes and identify potential risks. 

Strategic Reporting and Insight Generation 

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive project reports and dashboards for senior management, utilizing advanced features of Excel, PowerBI, and other analytics tools to present complex data in an accessible format. 
  • Synthesize project data to provide strategic insights, facilitating informed decision-making at the executive level. 

Leadership in Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Act as a key liaison between Corporate Finance and project teams across North America, ensuring seamless integration of project controls with financial planning and analysis. 
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities in coordinating efforts among diverse teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and safety. 

Expertise in Technology and Systems Integration 

  • Exhibit proficiency and innovative use of technology platforms including Excel, PowerBI, SAP, and other Office products to streamline project controls processes. 
  • Integrate and optimize third-party systems for enhanced project management and reporting functionality. 

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Education: Pursuing an MBA or Masters in Business Analytics, with a preferred undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, or Finance. 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and statistical methods. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, MS Project, and a demonstrated ability to master PowerBI, SAP, Primavera/P6, MS Project and other relevant software. 
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple projects with strategic importance. 

This Graduate Coop Student position is designed to offer candidates a comprehensive experience in project controls, financial oversight, and project management within a corporate setting.
