Laboratory Technician_Night Shift

Education requirements – High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)

Work experience – Experience working within a quality control lab preferred.

Soft skills –Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities/Requirements

Job responsibilities include, among other things:

Prepares incoming samples for testing by cataloging, drying, grinding, compositing, mixing, and splitting. Samples include raw materials, in-process and finished products, as well as samples from vendors, customers and competitors

Perform tests that determine the chemical and physical properties of prepared samples using appropriate instruments including analytical and top-loading balances, viscometer, hydrometer, I.C.P. spectrometer, moisture balance, thermometer, sample splitter, Ro-tap test sieves, uv/visible spectrophotometer, sulfur analyzer, and pH meter.

Demonstrate a basic understanding of the chemical processes, substances and labware used in the C.P.C. quality control lab, including acid/base chemistry, titrations, precipitations, and the use of volumetric glassware, filtering apparatus, and heating devices

Record and tabulate laboratory data making necessary calculations as needed. Communicates this data to the appropriate personnel per S.O.P

Enter test data into the LIMS system and review for accuracy, writing and sending Material Review Report to the Lab Manager as required.

Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
