Electrical Engineer II

As a CPI Electrical Engineer II, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world’s digital technology. Day to day, you will play a role in designing, developing, and implementing various engineering projects, ensuring their successful execution. The Staff Electrical Engineer will possess a solid foundation in engineering principles, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.

Essential Functions:

  1. Conduct comprehensive research, analysis, and evaluations to develop engineering designs, plans, and specifications.
  2. Design, prototype, and test engineering systems, components, or structures, employing sound engineering principles and methodologies.
  3. Perform detailed calculations, simulations, and modeling to optimize engineering designs and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
  4. Identify and resolve technical issues or challenges during the design, development, and implementation phases, ensuring project timelines and objectives are met.
  5. Create and maintain accurate documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and project reports.
  6. Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders to source materials, equipment, or services necessary for project implementation.
  7. Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project status updates, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
  8. Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in engineering practices, and leverage this knowledge to enhance project outcomes.
  9. Assist with alternate digital and power electronics part selection to reduce costs, improve quality, or overcome supply chain issues.
  10. Design, test, and troubleshoot low and high voltage and power systems (up to 500VAC and 100kW), including analog, digital, and power circuit designs.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience as an Electrical Engineer. Work on high power distribution design/development and associated controls (analog and digital) preferred.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and independently.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and present various technical solutions for critical product functions.
  • Proven use of OrCAD or other design tools to interpret and create complex schematic. PCB/A design experience is a plus.
  • Experience designing with and implementing AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC topologies.
  • Understanding and experience with signal integrity, noise issues, and signal processing for power electronics environments.
  • Experience operating various lab equipment for hardware or system tests.
  • Hands-on testing and troubleshooting experience solving complex problems under pressure while providing feasible short- and long-term solutions.
  • Ability to architect, write, & debug scripts/code for hardware or test systems a plus.
  • Experience with proper PCB/A layout techniques for reduction of noise, EMI / EMC considerations and performing compliance testing both in-house and at external testing laboratories a plus.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Works on a computer majority of the day.
  • Work in the office several times a week is required, with full time office work occasionally required.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Some travel may be required both by automobile and airplane.
