• Train under a Jail Training Officer (JTO) for an initial training phase 
• Attend and complete 13 weeks of training for Georgia P.O.S.T. Certification
• Perform law enforcement and public safety work for Chatham County Sheriff's Office
• Book, process, search, and seize personal property of arrestees and new inmates
• Issue uniforms, escort and secure inmates, maintain shift logs, and maintain order in housing areas
• Respond to assistance calls and operate security checks under the Guardian system
• Direct and Indirect Supervision facility
• Adhere to a 12-month probation period policy
• Other duties may be assigned

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school
• One year of work experience involving public contact
• Minimum age of 21
• Valid driver's license
• Correctable vision to 20/20 or 20/40 in each eye
• Physical and psychological exams, drug screening, and background investigations must be passed.

You must sign a conditional written agreement for this position, which requires salary reimbursement for voluntary separation within two (2) years of completing P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy.
