Chartwell Law office is currently seeking a full time Legal Assistant for the General Liability team in our Chicago, IL office. The ideal candidate must have at least three years' experience preparing discovery responses/pleadings and motions and legal assistant responsibilities. Must have excellent organizational, communication, writing, research skills, and the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:

• Odyssey efiling;

• Pacer/Pacer efiling;

• Independently docket dates, deadlines & reminders;

• Knowledge of court procedures – Cook County & outlying counties;

• Able to work from Chicago office on designated days;

• Prioritize work independently;

• Finalize documents & correspondence;

• Serve subpoenas & track progress;

• Issue discovery & manage incoming discovery disclosures & requests;

• Place summonses for service w/ Sheriff & SPS & track progress;

• Independently draft appropriate notices – Certificates of Service, Notices of Motion, Notices of Deposition, etc;

• Able to work independently & handle many moving parts;

• Able to take direction & learn our systems/practices.

Requirements:

• - Candidates must have a minimum of 2 - 3 years' legal experience
• Candidates must have experience in preparing and serving documents
• Candidates will be required to enter and bill their time
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook as well as other Microsoft Office applications including Word, Adobe PDF creation and searches
• Familiarity with and prior use of Aderant Total Office (ATO), knowledge of Aderant Expert is a plus
