Chartwell Law is looking for an experienced self-starting Associate for our General Liability practice group in our Arlington, VA office. Successful applicants will have exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills.

Primary duties include:

• File review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action

• Perform extensive legal research and drafting of substantial briefs, memos, pleadings and appellate briefs

• Regularly represent clients in court, mediation and depositions

• Draft and respond to discovery

• Retention of and collaboration with expert witnesses

• Trial preparation and trial attendance

• Some travel may be required.

• 3 years’ experience in General Liability, other practice areas a plus

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school

• Must be admitted to practice in the State of Virginia, other states a plus

• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

• Solid research abilities and written and oral communication skills

• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage and work in a team environment.

• Must respond promptly to e-mail and phone inquiries

• Excellent client skills and telephone manner
