REPORTS TO: Chief of Staff

WAGE/HOUR STATUS:  Non-Exempt 220
HOURLY RATE: $16 - $19 Based on experience

The Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) opened its doors in 2001 as a 700-student school serving grades K-6. Today, CSAT is a busy campus consisting of three distinct buildings (Elementary, Middle and High Schools), that host approximately 2,300 students from 19 different school districts throughout WNY.

Job Summary

The floating Clerk is a key support role within the school and will be trained for the office functions for all CSAT buildings to assist with clerk absences. School clerk will serve as the focal point for communication by mail, telephone and in person. The clerk will manage the flow of information within the school and will be responsible for maintaining school records. School clerk performs a wide variety of important clerical duties; to assist the principal by relieving him/her of clerical detail; and to do related work as required.

The floating Clerk will create and maintain a welcoming and efficient front office that emphasizes the organization, professionalism, courtesy, flexibility, and teamwork acting as a partnership school representative. The focus of the role is to receive visitors, answer inquiries and callers and refer them to proper school staff. Many tasks will require a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of the school and school system and some exercise use of rational thinking within the scope of the authority of the principal. Effective communication in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters is an integral for this role.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • This role requires a high school diploma, some college is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of clerical experience is required.
  • Bilingual language and writing skills are preferred.
  • The Clerk requires exceptional interpersonal, organizational, time-management skills and flexibility to be able to float between buildings as needed.

APPOINTMENT STATUS: Permanent

POSITION STATUS: Full-time

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION: Ability to operate various office equipment and be computer proficient at word processing, computers, fax machines and photocopiers.

New York State Education Department Fingerprinting is required for all positions. CSAT offers a very competitive salary, benefits and is a member of the New York State Retirement System.
