Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools is Hiring a Cafeteria Worker - Part-Time 2023-24 Near Charlotte, NC

CMS School Nutrition Services uses Kelly Services and Jennifer Temps to recruit and hire employees for school cafeterias.

Summary: Under general direction, is responsible for the onsite preparation and set up, serving and sanitation of the meal program. Monitors and maintains kitchen and cafeteria areas for the purpose of insuring a safe and sanitary working environment.

Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)

  • Assists in preparation/service of a variety of foods/beverages in accordance with established guidelines/work production standards.
  • Sets up for service and serves food to students/faculty/staff; stores remaining food and supplies in accordance with instruction and portion control. Ensures that food temperatures are constant and accurate, taking and recording temperatures in accordance with HACCP guidelines. Maintains standards of food quality and food safety.
  • Operates and cleans all kitchen equipment including oven, warmers, steam table, mixer, slicer, hot food carts and dishwasher.
  • Cleans work areas and deposits refuse in waste receptacles.
  • Attends in-service training as needed.
  • May operate a cash register, assist with collection of monies received and account for student meals (free and reduced meals/EDS) a la carte items and adult meals.
  • May balance receipts with POS, prepare funds for bank deposits and prepare bank deposit reports.
  • May assist in taking inventory of food and supplies.

The job requires significant lifting up to 30 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
