Charlotte Lab School is Hiring an Occupational Therapist | 2023-24 Near Charlotte, NC

Speech / Occupational Therapist, Charlotte Lab School | 2023-2024

Responsibilities

The Charlotte Lab School Speech or Occupational Therapist will have responsibilities in support of Lab’s instructional vision:

  • Develop and implement individualized therapy and/or treatment programs designed to restore, reinforce and enhance student performance;
  • Complete timely clinical documentation to include functional goal-setting, progress and therapeutic approach;
  • Identify need for and make referral to other disciplines to address the comprehensive needs of the student;
  • Collaborate with grade team members on student goals and treatments needed; 
  • Instruct, educate and train students and families in the skills and functions essential for promoting student independence and productivity, using a remediation, adaptation/modification approach;
  • Participate in Individualized Education Plan creation and meetings as needed;
  • Review therapy and/or treatment plans as often as needed, at a minimum every 60 days;
  • Consistently evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and make plans for discharge, as appropriate;
  • Participate in staff development activities;
  • Actively recognize and report any forms of abuse according to policy as well as federal and state laws;
  • Take on other responsibilities as needed, and as assigned, to ensure student and school success.

Qualifications

Candidate MUST:

  • Be able/willing to learn how to fulfill the responsibilities listed above;
  • ​Have an advanced degree (Master’s degree or higher) in a related field;
  • Hold a NC Occupational therapy state License and an NBCOT License;
  • Demonstrate experience in, or passion for, teaching diverse populations, 
  • Demonstrate experience in working with ages 5-18 and other diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

In addition, the Lab School Leadership Team will look favorably upon candidates who:

PREPARATION:

  • Have a least 2 years of full-time experience working with relevant grade range and in licensed area;
  • Experienced in ECATS system or willing to learn ECATS documentation;
  • Have comfort with technology and experience with Google Suite;
  • Possess strong classroom management skills;
  • Are exceptionally organized and have ability to prioritize effectively and meet competing deadlines;
  • Have experience with documenting student progress data, including daily notes and quarterly progress reports;

Compensation

Charlotte Lab School offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience and education level using our compensation rubric. This role falls under Grade 4M on our rubric. All salaries are determined pending verification of experience by our Finance/HR divisions and Board of Directors budget approval. Please note the following regarding use of the rubric:

  • Assistant, instructional, dean and director salaries (Grades 1-4) are determined based on 1 year credit for 1 year of teaching and/or other relevant experience. Increased pay for advanced degrees (which may include specialized leadership programs or certifications) is indicated above and paid on the basis on completion of qualifying programs.
  • Leadership salaries (Grades 5 and above) are determined based on 1 year credit for 1 year of leadership experience, and .5 year credit for each year of teaching experience. Advanced degrees are assumed, so not considered in this scale. 

The position also includes medical insurance for the employee, with voluntary dental and vision plans, and spouse/family coverage. Lab also provides access to a Flexible Spending Account for health and childcare expenses and an opportunity to contribute to a 403b retirement plan. Lab provides the opportunity for Lab employees to earn 10 PTO days each year (1/month). Full time Charlotte Lab School faculty members also receive priority in the student admissions process.
