Curriculum Writer, Charlotte Lab School | 2023-24

Hours: Part-Time, Stipend

Responsibilities

The Charlotte Lab School Curriculum Writer will have responsibilities in support of Lab’s instructional vision:

• Align unit guides, scope and sequence and assessments to the Lab Curriculum Map for content area(s) including: NC Math I and NC Math II
• Design detailed activities, presentations, assignments, and projects following Lab’s Workshop Model approach for each unit in the Curriculum Map
• Suggest points of differentiation and/or modification for each lesson plan to meet the learning needs of specific students
• Build Quarterly Performance Tasks aligned to the Common Core and/or North Carolina Standards and planned Units of Study 
• Develop standards-based feedback banks for each unit, designed to assist teachers in giving targeted feedback on student performance 
• Design Schoology course structures and load lesson plans, student materials, and quarterly performance tasks
• Take on other responsibilities as needed, and as assigned, to ensure student and school success.

Qualifications

Candidate MUST:

• Be able/willing to learn how to fulfill the responsibilities listed above;
• ​Hold a Bachelor's degree from a four year institution;
• Have comfort with technology and experience with Google Suite;
• Are exceptionally organized and have ability to prioritize effectively and meet competing deadlines;
• Demonstrate experience in, or passion for, teaching diverse populations.

In addition, the Lab School Leadership Team will look favorably upon candidates who:

TEACHER PREPARATION:

• Have a least 2 years of full-time teaching experience;
• Have experience teaching relevant content area;
• Have an advanced degree in a related field;
• Can demonstrate strong student achievement results in relevant content area(s);
• Possess strong classroom management skills;
• Have experience with standards based grading;
• Have dual-certification to teach:

• • Exceptional Children 
  • Academically Gifted students 
  • English as a Second Language

Compensation

Compensation for this part-time internal stipend position can be expected to be an annual stipend amount of $2000 for specific deliverables with about 5 hours of work per week through the duration of the role as outlined above. The span of work will depend on the number of content area(s) and curriculum plan(s) allotted to each writer.
