Charleston Area Medical Center is Hiring an Incinerator Operator 2 -- Housekeeping Administration -- General Hospital Near Charleston, WV

Job Summary

Responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of the incinerator system and waste management/recycling equipment, and maintaining facility in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Responsibilities

* Operate incinerator system safely and efficiently in compliance with regulatory permits. Perform preventative maintenance on incinerator system including the incinerator, scrubber, ash system and utility systems. Actively troubleshoot and take appropriate corrective actions. Service and repair equipment used in waste management/recycling program. Monitor operation of the system through computer logic system gauges and control panels. Conduct and/or coordinate sampling of ash and emissions for regulatory compliance. Maintain daily records and logs of equipment operations in accordance with permit requirements of federal, state, and local regulations. Lead daily activities of incinerator technicians to assure proper waste processing and record keeping. Report operational problems to the supervisor and initiate appropriate interventions. Monitor waste logs documented by incinerator technicians for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Clean and disinfect trash carts and maintain facility/grounds. Schedule non-CAMC contractors waste disposal activities. Interact with Maintenance to ensure most efficient use of boiler system. Maintain parts inventory for incinerator operation including scrubber reagent. Prepare accurate written reports as required. Manage all chemicals in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Drive 10-wheel truck with standard transmission and hydraulic lifts to transport solid waste; CDL is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Common Duties and Responsibilities (Essential duties common to all positions) 1. Maintain and document all applicable required education. 2. Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. 3. Comply with the company's attendance policy. 4. Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. 5. Perform work in a cost effective manner. 6. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.

* High School Diploma or GED (Required) Experience: 3 Years Maintenance experience based on the needs of the department
