Job Summary
Plan, organize, and provide recreational therapy programs and services designed to meet the social, emotional, and therapeutic needs of patients with various disabilities.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial assessment within 48 hours following admission. Develop individualized treatment plans as part of the interdisciplinary process. Participate in transitional care unit quality management activities. Collect quality review data. Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions. Evaluate patient response to treatment. Document the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment. Maintain required records on each assigned patient, which includes documentation on the initial interview, patient progress, activity attendance, physical ability, and psychological and social behavior during activity participation and discharge of patients. Function as an active member of assigned treatment teams, attending patient conferences and team meetings to share information related to the patient's status and progress in order to enhance their care. Attends and participates in departmental meetings and conducts in-service presentations and educational lectures for members of the rehabilitation team as required. Develop good working relationships with physicians, nursing personnel, and community agencies to ensure maximum utilization of departmental services. Participates in patient rounds with the medical staff and other rehabilitation team members to obtain medical staff orders and to discuss treatment plans. Assists in the training of Recreational Therapy student interns.

Education
Bachelor's Degree (Required) Education: Bachelor Degree Recreational Therapy from an institution or equiv. Parks- Recreation- & Leisure degree w/spec. Rec. Therapy.
