Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Health System is Hiring an Education Coordinator -- Professional Nursing Education -- Memorial-Parking Garage Near Charleston, WV

Job Summary

Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, develop, maintain and coordinate educational opportunities through a service group focus for all disease and age groups to support nursing practice 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for nursing education within service group. May include but not limited to roving education between departments on all shifts, facilitation of grand rounds on disease specific educational topics, consultation for practice changes, and impromptu patient related education. • Facilitate interdisciplinary problem solving utilizing a holistic systems approach and effectively implement the change process that has unit / organizational impact. • Perform the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and development of educational programs / opportunities designed to improve the quality of health care delivery and patient education. • Mentor and support staff nurses who provide clinical education. • Maintain and evaluate educational competencies for staff nurses who provide clinical based education. • Maintain clinical competencies through the performance of direct patient care. • Maintain positive relationships and communication with CAMC management, staff, and medical staff in program development and implementation focusing on quality improvement. • Communicate and collaborate with Nursing Education Specialists to facilitate implementation of decisions / recommendations regarding educational opportunities and competencies. • Utilize and implement alternative methods of providing education (internet, computer software, etc.). • Collaborate with Professional Nursing Education to evaluate duplication of services and promote efficient use of resources. • Assist in the development, monitoring, and updating of the annual Professional Nursing Education Plan, as necessary. • Utilize the systematic method for communicating education offerings and programs throughout CAMC. • Maintain department, institution and licensure (if applicable) required education. Document appropriately. • Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. • Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. • Perform work in a cost-effective manner. • Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.Competency StatementMust demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.Common Duties and Responsibilities(Essential duties common to all positions)1. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations.7. Education

• Master's Degree (Required) Experience: 4 years clinical experienceSubstitution: May substitute a bachelor's degree in nursing and 7 years experience for the Master's degreeGrandfather: Anyone hired into the this position prior to 7/1/2018, will be grandfathered in with current education level.
