Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) Engineering is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS), the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), and Third-Party Platform teams. Wealth Management Engineering (WME), an organization within WAM Engineering, provides support to WAS which is a growth area for Schwab.
This newly created role will support the future growth of the WAS business. As a seasoned, hands-on Software Development Engineer, you will enable WME to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks, you will also help us reach our goals through your strong software development, integration engineering, software testing disciplines, innovation, curiosity, drive, and passion for driving quality solutions. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.
You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. Supported business functions span Schwab’s Wealth and Investment Solutions including Schwab Wealth Advisory. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s WAS business and their clients.
Responsible For
  • Collaborating with Product Owners, Tech Leads, Architects and Scrum master’s to develop enterprise software.
  • Participating in all Agile ceremonies and actively participate in daily stand ups.
  • Developing and delivering software to integrate with third party platforms and develop both front-end and backend software components that fulfill business requirements.
  • Performing tier 3 production support when required.
  • Searching out and evangelizing new and emerging technologies including open-source tools.
  • Ensuring the highest quality software is developed, delivered, and maintained.
  • Being a mentor and positive role model to junior members of the team.
What you have
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area
  • Hands on experience gained through at least 5 years in a software development role in a moderate to complex technical domain.
  • 5 years of experience in developing Java/J2EE applications
  • 2 years’ experience using Spring Batch, Spring-boot and Spring-security
  • 2 year of experience in test automation and testing cloud-based API applications
  • 2 years’ experience in writing complex SQL queries, views and performing data modeling
  • 2 years demonstrated real world experience in software engineering principles, such as software design patterns.
  • 1 year developing front end applications using Reactjs, Nextjs, and Javascript.
  • 2 years’ experience working Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment and DevOps tools like Bamboo, BitBucket or Github
Preferred
  • Conceptual understanding of cloud environments such as AWS/GCP/PCF
  • Conceptual understanding of ETL and tools such as IICS
  • Firm grasp of algorithm design and software problem solving techniques
  • Exposure to various flavors of databases Postgress, Oracle, Mongo, SQL Server, MySQL.
  • Work with development teams at the appropriate stages to ensure the support strategy guidelines are followed and new systems or projects meet the Production standards.
  • Constantly update knowledge repository, ensure information regarding any support related activities or issues are available and easily accessible.
  • Improve self-reliance and reduce dependency on the availability of development or external team resources for the initial troubleshooting and resolution of problems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers, and leaders
  • Ability work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies.
  • Strong customer focus with a sense of ownership and determination to drive solutions in a collaborative environment.
