The Wealth Management Learning & Coaching (WML&C) team in the Retail Experience Strategy & Risk (RESR) organization is accountable for developing and coaching Schwab sales professionals.

The Early Talent Development group in WML&C is responsible for creating innovative and engaging learning solutions to prepare and enable our early talent and new hires provide exceptional service to our clients. The team is focused on designing and delivering relevant, timely, and engaging learning experiences that enhance the skills and capabilities of our people and equip them with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their role.

We are always searching for new ways to deliver industry-leading wealth management experiences to our clients and provide services that add more value for our clients. This starts with ensuring our people, particularly our new hires, are equipped to serve clients the Schwab Way.

WML&C is part of the Investor Services organization. We design and deliver learning solutions for sales professionals (new hires and experienced sales professionals) in the Branch Network. In this role, you will focus on developing learning solutions for our new hires and evolving Wealth Management University (WMU), our new hire training program. The role will also be instrumental in the strategic development of additional role specific onboarding programs (CRS University). Our goal is to improve learning experiences, increase learner engagement, and create a diverse world-class learning experience for our new hires.

You will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating WMU sessions throughout the year (we typically have seven (7) planned cohorts each year)
  • Developing and facilitating case studies, role plays, and simulation exercises for WMU and other new hire programs to help new hires apply their knowledge
  • Supporting other Early Talent Development programs through facilitation of coaching and training sessions; and building course outlines for new content as needed
  • Providing input to improve the operational efficiency of the WMU program
  • Coordinating with SMEs, business partners, and Instructional Designers to create engaging and impactful learning solutions; ensuring diverse modalities are leveraged
  • Leading efforts to create participant, coach, and facilitator guides and case studies for live WMU sessions and virtual Instructor Led deliveries
  • Conducting regular needs assessments to identify skills gaps and training requirements

What you are good at:

  • Delivering impactful live training and coaching sessions that provide practical application opportunities to new hires
  • Building strong, effective, and collaborative relationships with our internal team and cross-functionally with other L&D partners
  • Drafting content outlines and working with instructional design teams
  • Engaging others in open dialogue and influencing approach to gain support from various stakeholders who may have different priorities
  • You are enthusiastic about Learning & Development, self-motivated, results oriented and able to drive organizational change

What you have

  • BA/BS required in Human Resources, Education, Business, or a related field or experience in lieu of a degree
  • MUST HAVE: Proven experience (4 years) in Learning & Development with a broad understanding of learning strategy and program management
  • MUST HAVE: Background in coaching to sales process, wealth management, and financial planning topics
  • MUST HAVE: Financial Services industry experience 
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and course design
  • Track record of developing and implementing successful projects or programs with cross-functional departments
  • Highly Preferred: Deep understanding and connection to key partners in the Branch Network, WAS, and other sales organizations at Schwab
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Proven ability as a self-starter, and demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute methodically
  • Highly Preferred: Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and digital learning tools like Articulate and Rise
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous and always fast-moving work environment
