High School Building SubDescription: The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University, TCS @ ODU is looking for a High School Building Sub for the 2024 - 2025 school year. TCS @ ODU has a particular mission to urban students in Central Ohio preparing them for lifelong learning and informed citizenship through real-world experiences and rigorous academics. Fostering ownership and responsibility for their education prepares our students to be successful in college, the workplace, and other endeavors they undertake upon leaving TCS @ ODU.The classroom teacher is responsible for the education of each student in his or her class, and is responsible for working with students, parents, and other teachers and staff towards achieving the mission and goals of The Graham School. As a content-driven course, social studies will address topics from world history (Enlightenment to present day) to the U.S. History, Government, and Economics. Giving students a foundational knowledge in the required courses as well as helping students understand the tools and thinking that social science researchers utilize, we will help all of our students develop and apply critical thinking skills which will inform their post-secondary life and to be fully participatory citizens in our community. Help to spark curiosity and joy in learning for all students.
Responsible for teaching a full course load (three blocked periods with one prep period daily) of social studies courses & EL. Develops syllabus, grading expectations, course sequence, title and all course details in conjunction with the building leadership, department and counseling team.Develops a caring and nurturing classroom environment where all students can contribute to the community, learn, express questions/concerns/thoughts, and deepen their growth as a life-long learner. Follow building guidance regarding parental communication, classroom management norms, and PBIS expectations.With the building leadership and grade level teams, write, implement, and evaluate Crew lessons. Develop your Crew class culture such that the school's mission, vision and core values are reflected.
Staff members often have additional responsibilities and duties to help the school function safely and effectively.
