Job Summary

We are looking for an Animal Care Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Washington, DC.

What impact will you have?
The responsibilities of the Animal Care Technician II are to perform daily animal health observations to maintain the quality and health of research animals in the facility.

In addition:

  • Perform daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks, cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required; provide food and water; and record health concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, housing, or support areas.
  • Receive, inspect, and house incoming animals; ensure and provide for sentinel animals in each rodent housing area.
  • Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species.
  • May become involved in breeding and weaning procedures.
  • Monitor personnel and equipment entry into various rooms.
  • Perform cagewash duties and sanitation as needed.
  • Operate required equipment and perform general housekeeping.
Who are we looking for?
A candidate with a high school diploma or general education degree is required; minimum two years directly related laboratory animal in an AAALAC accredited facility. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. ALAT required.
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - 24.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
