Channel Personnel Services is Hiring a Power Plant Maintenance Manager Near Norwich, CT

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe maintenance of all power plant mechanical, electrical, instrument and control systems and equipment. In addition, this position is responsible for the identification and control of all spare parts, replacement parts and consumables to maximize availability and reliability of power production. The Maintenance Manager plans, budgets, schedules, and supervises all maintenance activity at the facility. This is a supervisory role that manages a team of electricians, mechanics, and maintenance employees, as well as, managing relationships with contractors. It is also the responsibility of the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory environmental and safety programs. The Maintenance Manager works closely with the Plant Manager to develop and maintain a high-quality work environment to achieve plant safety, outage budget and schedule, and cost targets.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø The job duties listed below are typical examples of the work performed by the Maintenance Manager. Not all duties assigned to this position are included. Maintenance Managers may be asked to perform other duties and requirements may vary.
Ø Collaborates with Operations to determine work plans and resources necessary to achieve plant production targets.
Ø Assumes a proactive role in assessing risks to plant availability and reliability and, ensures that measures are taken to correct problems with equipment or systems that may cause these problems.
Ø Develops, schedules and supervises daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal maintenance work of plant systems including ash removal, fuel delivery, water supply, steam generation, electrical generation, pollution control, and rolling stock systems and equipment.
Ø Organizes, maintains, and applies corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance work orders, schedules and records.
Ø Identifies, troubleshoots, and communicates breakdowns or upset conditions of plant systems and equipment to members of Operations.
Ø Coordinates systems and equipment access for maintenance work projects.
Ø Researches and obtains parts and materials to maintain plant systems and equipment.
Ø Plans, executes and manages plant system and equipment annual, seasonal and forced outage and overhaul work scopes and schedules including specifying and requisitioning of equipment, scheduling of work and coordination of labor including plant employees and vendors/contractors.
Ø Prepares the maintenance budget and participates in the overall plant budget preparation process. Works throughout the budget year to manage maintenance expenditures to ensure that target goals are met or, expenses are below budgeted levels.
Ø Administers and manages compliance with plant and corporate policies, procedures, and practices.
Ø Participates in the administrative updating of operating instruction manuals, technical references, prints and engineering drawings and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
Ø Oversees the work and activities of the maintenance crew, including setting work assignments and designating work tasks. Also, responsible for administrative and management duties, including hiring, promotions, timekeeping, performance management, disciplinary actions and separation for Maintenance employees.
Ø Develops and delivers plant system and equipment training to new and existing Maintenance crew members.
Ø Ensures housekeeping responsibilities of Maintenance crew to meet or exceed expectations.
Ø Promotes an attitude of safety awareness and sets a high standard for safety through adherence to all company safety policies and compliance with all site specific safety requirements and procedures.
Ø Takes a proactive role as a member of management to identify safety hazards and takes corrective actions as necessary to address.
Ø Assists with conducting safety meetings and training programs and participates in plant safety programs as required.
Ø The position requires availability for emergency 24 hour on-call maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v BA/BS degree or higher in a technical program such as engineering or science; or equivalent combination of High School diploma and related work experience in solid fuel power plants
v A minimum of 5 years of experience in and an extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, machines, equipment, materials and maintenance procedures of a biomass electrical generating plant.
v Experience working on a team and directing the work of others.
v Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
v Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
v Strong trouble-shooting and analytical skills to solve problems of both a technical and operational nature.
v Good verbal and written communication skills×
v Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at various levels at the plant.
v Computer skills, including working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook (or equivalents).
