The Maintenance Reliability Engineering position provides technical engineering expertise for the determination of the basic causes of equipment failures; the development and implementation of corrective actions; and, for the establishment of appropriate maintenance procedures in order to improve equipment stability. This individual will champion the Maintenance RCAR reporting and Reliability program, root cause analysis of failures, continuous improvement initiatives, and reliability related projects.
The Reliability Engineer will oversee the Mechanical Integrity program and ensure compliance of vessels, tanks, and piping with applicable codes and regulations. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for establishing new systems and improving existing systems as they relate to both the Mechanical Integrity program and to the reliability of plant equipment.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Oversee the Plant Mechanical Integrity.
Ø Responsible for Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance as it relates to mechanical integrity, engineering design, relief devices, process safety information, maintenance related procedures and all applicable document retention requirements.
Ø Experience operating and maintaining large chillers, both low and high pressure, and the associated chilled water system and ancillary equipment.
Ø Knowledge of Frick, FES, MYCOM, Neumann Esser, Gorman Rupp, and other compressors/chillers
Ø Experience with pneumatic controls for associated valves and actuators installed on plant equipment.
Ø Experience operating and maintaining high pressure water tube boilers, centrifugal pumps, and all associated steam and condensate system equipment.
Ø Develops and implement a reliability roadmap with best practices for processes and equipment.
Ø Define and institute the elements, sub-elements, systems, processes, standards, practices, and procedures for reliability and mechanical integrity programs that yield a world class maintenance and reliability program.
Ø Mentor/coach maintenance mechanics with the use of precision maintenance techniques to help build additional capability in the organization.
Ø
Ø Institute equipment criticality process, condition monitoring, Preventive Maintenance (PM) Optimization, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), failure investigation, failure analysis, and history reporting.
Ø Experience operating a Computerized Energy Management System and identifying problems and alarms and conducting corrective actions.
Ø Assist in developing the annual expense and capital budget.
Ø Assist in the planning and coordinating plant shutdown maintenance repairs including direct supervision of contract maintenance crews.
Ø Participate with Maintenance and Project Engineers, Supervisors, and Planners to evaluate construction bids and outside vendor performance.
Ø Develop and implement reliability metrics, dashboards, and scorecards that will provide the state of the health and reliability performance of plant assets.
Ø Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Ø Responsible for proper maintenance and engineering repair recommendations for all plant stationary equipment within the area assigned.
Ø Establish and implement programs of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and other programs to monitor quality of maintenance efforts.
Ø Ensure compliance with appropriate Safety, Environmental, and Quality codes and standards (API, ASME, OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, NESC, ISO, etc.).
Ø Must be team-oriented and disciplined.
Ø Ensure the proper use of safety devices, equipment, and methods when maintenance efforts are performed.
Ø Participate in developing maintenance budgets and assist in achieving cost reduction goals.
Ø Coordinate efforts using approved procedures, for utilizing staff services to assist in proper maintenance of the plant facilities.
Ø Work to reduce costs, improve maintenance quality and efficiency.
Ø Develop and maintain good working relationships with all other departments to ensure effective execution of responsibilities.
Ø Participate in personnel staffing interviews and hiring decisions.
Ø Provide leadership and supervision to subordinates.
Ø Create a participative work environment by encouraging and facilitating employee involvement and teamwork.
Ø Participate in management meetings to make recommendations in matters related to maintenance operations.
Ø Aid in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and proposing appropriate countermeasures when equipment malfunctions occur.
Ø Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Ø Additional assignments as deemed necessary by management.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering field.
v 10 years reliability experience.
v 5 years maintenance experience.
v 5 years supervisory experience.
v Experience with codes, regulations, and standards applicable to chemical processing equipment, piping, and facilities (OSHA, ASME, API, etc.).
v Industrial plant experience with exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
v 5 years Chemical Plant experience (will consider Oil & Gas or Petroleum experience).
v Mechanical Integrity program experience a strong plus.
v Experience with SAP-CMMS Preventive Maintenance or equivalent programs.
v Training or certification in condition-based maintenance and reliability techniques such as vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, ultrasonic inspection, etc.
v Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of pressure steam boilers, air compressors, refrigeration equipment, reciprocating and centrifugal chillers, and water pumps.
