ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Summary/Objective:
The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of our sand and gravel and concrete facilities.
Essential Functions:
- Construct/assemble new sand and gravel and concrete plants and provide maintenance and repair on all plants and equipment in a timely manner.
- Perform all maintenance operations (welding, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, boilers and air systems) in accordance with technical specifications and safety regulations.
- Maintain equipment such as: feed systems, conveying systems, scrubber systems, shaker systems, classifying systems, discharge hopper systems, weigh systems, cement storage systems, central mixer systems, load carrying systems, drive systems, water systems, air systems, electrical systems, crusher systems, hydraulic systems, recycling systems, structural systems, and other miscellaneous equipment.
- Inspect equipment in accordance with the company's Prescribed Inspection Schedule and complete equipment inspection and reports.
- Keep equipment and plant site clean at all times. Perform miscellaneous duties and outside labor as requested, which may include, but not limited to, cleaning up around the plant, sweeping, shoveling, moving wheelbarrows, picking up equipment or supplies.
- Perform all pre and post-trip inspections and complete daily inspection reports.
- Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. Follow proper procedures and complete required documentation if an accident or injury occurs. Notify manager or Safety Department as required.
- Understand and comply with all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies. Notify manager and the Safety Manager immediately of any potential or current safety problems.
- Wear required PPE.
- Follow all environmental regulations and clean up any excess material that could cause environmental problems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Drive/operate crane (manual transmission).
- Operate man lift and perform rigging as needed.
- Fill in for colleagues as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Work Environment:
- Work time will be outdoor/field.
- Exposure to dust and fumes/offensive smells.
- Exposure to chemicals such as fuel, grease and oil.
- Close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level will be moderate to loud.
Physical Demands:
- Lift a maximum weight of 100 lbs., repetitively lift 50 lbs., carry approximately 50 lbs., and push/pull approximately 50 lbs.
- Reach overhead and reach away from the body.
- Sit 2 hours per day, walk 2 hours per day, stand 2 hours per day, climb 2 hours per day some extreme heights), kneel 2 hours per day, crawl 1 hour per day, and squat the other 1 hour per day.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Experience welding and fabricating.
- Experience with electrical installation, repairs and maintenance.
Special Skills:
- Written communication, verbal communication and basic mathematical skills.
- Basic computer knowledge. Ability to learn and use iPad, iPhone and company software applications.
- Ability to read blue prints.
Certifications:
- Class B CDL preferred.
Industry Related Experience or Skills:
- Familiarity with sand and gravel and concrete plants preferred.
Education Required: High School
Preferred Education: Vocational or trade training
Bilingual in Spanish Preferred: No
