Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The First Things First grant funded Community Oral Health Worker/Promotora will assist providers with medical and dental Spanish interpretation of information for patients and parents, complete patient charts, data enter patient records and service delivery information, dispense oral health resource information materials, and provide oral health instruction for children, families, and the underserved community within the First Things First service area in a format that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.

Provide the fundamental functions of oral health

  • Assist providers with educating patients and parents in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
  • Present age-appropriate education and resources to children, parents and caregivers in a thorough and concise manner that follows program protocol.
  • Answer participants' questions and concerns with accurate and current health information.
  • Provide evidence-based oral health education and services to Dignity Health Community Integration programs as requested.
  • Assist staff as needed to complete scheduled clinics/educational sessions, including transportation of supplies, clinic set up and clean up.
  • Attend and transport materials to educational sessions, health fairs and program events at various locations.

Complete administrative duties

  • Confirm scheduled clinical and educational sessions with community partners and parents.
  • Collect and report data as indicated.
  • Review and maintain supply levels for program presentations and clinics.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and follow through with task completion and communication.
  • Complete patient charts with provider direction and data enter patient records and service delivery information.
  • Manages inventory including ordering, monitoring expiration dates, storage, and distribution of supplies.
  • Assist with scheduling patient appointments and coordinating comprehensive care and referrals
Qualifications

Minimum:

Experience:

Experience working with under-served populations, diverse cultures and young children.

1-2 years health and/or dental background.

Experience working in a grant funded program.

Licensure:

Valid driver license.

American Heart Association BLS

Fingerprint clearance within six months of hire.

Special Skills:

Able to read, write, speak, and understand both English and Spanish.
