POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tribunal Case Manager/Auditor ministers to the People of the Diocese of San Jose in the management and instruction of Marriage Annulment Cases from the moment the Case is formally accepted and opened in the Tribunal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  •  Case Document Audit and Completion
  •  Testimony Review
  •  Decrees Issuance
  •  Case Status / Case Follow-up
  •  Case Interviews as needed.
  •  Case Publication
  •  Animadversions processing
  •  Assistant for Tribunal Workshops
  •  Appeal Cases to Rome (as requested)
  •  Perform Rogatories
  •  Train Seminarians
  •  Tribunal Office Administrative Duties

REQUIRED SKILS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to plan, organize and communicate effectively.
  • Must have respect for, and understanding of, different spiritualties as lived out in a variety of cultures.
  • Listening and Interviewing skills.
  • Comfortable in a culturally diverse setting.
  • Ability to guard confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and handle confidential and sensitive information required.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

Education and/or Experience:

  •  A Degree in Pastoral Ministry and 1-2 years as a paralegal experience.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in English and Spanish: Ability to read, analyze and interpret testimonies and technical procedures.
  •  Ability to write reports and effectively present the information contained in oral depositions.

Critical Thinking Skills:

  • Reasoning Ability, Ability to analyze written and oral depositions.

Technical Skills:

  • Computer-literate, proficiency in Microsoft Office

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, handle objects, hear and talk. The employee is often required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may need to walk on wet and uneven surfaces. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Physical Environment: The employee works in an individual office with a door.

Working Conditions: The employee must be physically present during regular business hours. Must be able to work well independently and as a member of a team and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The employee should be able to prioritize, multi-task and handle stressful situations.

Other Requirements:

  • Practicing Catholic preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church structure, culture, and its mission.
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of the staff as well as
  • with staff members outside the department.
  • Able to multi-task and provide good customer service.
  • Travel and overtime (if applicable) may be required occasionally

Range: $68,992.56 – $72,000.00 per year based on education and experience.
