Job Title: Welcome Center Staff

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. The Welcome Center Staff responds to member and guest needs and promotes memberships and programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y
• Conducts tours responsive to the needs of prospective members
• Provide information on facility services and programs
• Enroll members and program participants.
• Keep welcome center area neat and clean
• Answer telephones using assigned greeting
• Actively builds relationships and connections with and among members by using members’ names, engaging members in conversation while actively listening and checking on members’ progress.
• Keep an accurate account of all monies received; receive payments and record them correctly.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures, when appropriate.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA
• Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Attend staff meetings
• Be on time for all scheduled shifts, and get shifts covered that you are not able to fulfill. Be available and willing to substitute for fellow employees
• Be alert to safety factors and potential hazards

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to respond to emergency situations.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 20 pounds
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $11.00 per hour

Weekly day range:

• Weekends as needed
