Chaminade College Preparatory is Hiring an Accounting Supervisor Near Los Angeles, CA

Chaminade College Preparatory is seeking a Accounting Supervisor.

The Accounting Supervisor manages the daily activity for general, tuition revenue, and fixed asset accounting. Oversees and prepares reconciliations, posting and verification of financial data. Prepares financial statements and reports in conjunction with the monthly closing process. Ensures all analysis and accounting are accurate and prepared in compliance with accounting policies and standards and on a timely basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews and approves account reconciliations of other department members
  • Verifies, and posts expenses to the appropriate divisions
  • Prepares and records journal entries
  • Monitors the progress of the monthly financial close and proactively reports on potential issues
  • Utilizes tuition billing system to extract monthly financial transactions
  • Reconciles deferred tuition, and prepaid accounts
  • Coordinates the receipt of POS and donation revenue transactions with Manager, Finance Systems & User Support
  • Partners with the Tuition Manager, Human Resources and Payroll in the reconciliation of their respective areas
  • Reconciles investment bank accounts and prepares investment roll forward schedule
  • Supervises and provides overall guidance to accounting clerk in their preparation of account reconciliations
  • Maintains the Fixed Asset system
  • Performs balance sheet reviews with the Director of Finance including the identification of unusual variances for possible discrepancies
  • Ensures timely payment of sales taxes
  • Prepares income statement and balance sheets for review with Director of Finance including variances to budget and prior year.
  • Meets financial close deadlines and presents financial statements for review
  • Prepares ad-hoc analysis as needed
  • Assist Director of Finance in the preparation of quarterly Finance Committee reports
  • Provide support to annual financial audit including disclosure schedules
  • Supports various special projects
  • Follows published monthly reporting deadlines and follows up with respective parties for unreconciled accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business and CPA is preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • Familiarity with operational driven organizations
  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting is a plus
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to meet and manage deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of general accounting systems, preferably Blackbaud
  • Knowledge of fixed asset systems
  • Familiarity with POS systems is a plus.
  • Experience with a full accounting cycle
  • Excel advanced or intermediate, Microsoft Word

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, 12 month per year, salaried/exempt from overtime position. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. The expected salary range for the position is $75,000 to $95,000 annually depending on qualifications.
