We are currently seeking a Landscape Designer to join our Land Development Team located at our Brooklyn, NY office.

YOUR IMPACT

CHA's Land Development team facilitates cooperation among the developer, regulatory agencies, local review boards, consultants, and the community. We give careful consideration to impacts on traffic, stormwater drainage, water and sanitary services, and the environment. With all those moving parts, CHA is the one resource that can plan a project tactically, design it cohesively, permit it seamlessly, and construct it successfully. CHA has completed over 2,000,000 square feet of shopping mall and free-standing retail space in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, hundreds of projects for leading retail clients, dozens of national restaurant and hospitality clients and a myriad of apartment complexes, entertainment venues, pharmacies, convenience stores and other private development projects.

The Landscape Designer position will be a part of CHA’s Planning and Landscape Architecture Group. This group provides services to both public and private clients of the Land Development and Buildings teams, as well as the Infrastructure and Power sectors, and supports projects that increase the sustainability and resiliency of our communities and the environment using a wholistic approach to design that considers the needs of people, flora, and fauna. This position will support the growth of our Brooklyn, NY office located in the DUMBO neighborhood and is a half block from the iconic Washington Street.

The Landscape Designer is responsible for supporting the design and planning for a variety of project types including site design, master planning, planting design, and habitat restoration. This role will engage in all aspects of a project from concepting and permitting through construction by leading the creation of visual impact assessments, site feasibility plans, and construction documentation. This role will routinely present data, design ideas, and other findings through written documents, oral and visual presentations, and graphic means both internally and externally. The Landscape Designer will also complete field assignments, such as data collection and construction observation, when appropriate. Additionally, this position will provide plan renderings and perspective renderings on a variety of different projects.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, or an MLA with a BS in a related field is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of related professional experience
  • Computer graphic skills such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign are required
  • Experience in Lumion, GIS, Land F/X, Revit and Civil 3D is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Strong background in planting design
  • Ability to self-motivate and work productively with and without supervision is required
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills required
  • Desire to become a Registered Landscape Architect
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit all levels of personnel and management. Experience working in a digital platform such as Teams is required.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff
  • Desire to be part of a dynamic team that works on projects across the eastern half of the United States.
  • Travel will be based on project assignments and will be mostly local
  • Portfolio is required with submission of resume.
