A client of ours in the Manufacturing industry is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate has 2 years of relevant experience and a strong go-getter attitude. Salary Range: $85k-$95k/year
Product Costs:
- Maintain and monitor product costs.
- Report on production variances to standard cost
- Report on margins by product group
- Assist in maintaining company policy to record scrap and wastage.
- Work with engineering and product management to provide accurate cost estimates.
- for new products.
- Review cost procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
Inventory Control:
- Produce accurate inventory evaluation reports based on perpetual records as needed.
- and assist in the development of key ratios to monitor.
- Monitor cycle counts for variances and resolve issues.
- Co-ordinate physical inventory counts, and cycle counts with Inventory Manager.
- Manage inventory cycle counts of controlled items and related spot checks in
- conjunction with Inventory and Compliance departments.
- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
- Develop and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
- Work with Inventory Control to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory.
- Assist with annual audit of onsite inventory.
- Assist in company goal to strive for ‘lean’ production.
- Prepare Import/Export documentation in conjunction with Receiving/Shipping and Compliance.
General Accounting:
- Assist Controller in annual budget preparation.
- Compile cost information to be used in operating budget preparation.
- Assist Controller in month end and year-end financial activities including, but not limited to, journal entries, account reconciliation and month end reports.
- Prepare quarterly excise tax returns.
- Responsible for performing and/or completing such other tasks and responsibilities as may be required and/or assigned to you by the Company.
