Controller Job Summary
The Controller provides fiscal support to the organization, oversees all accounting practices, and supervises the Accounting Department. The Controller supports and collaborates with the Chief Operation Officers or designee in their management of the functional revenue and finance aspects of the organization by: (1) providing visible leadership in financial management operations; (2) providing consistent information on the fiscal impact of a broad range of issues including budget, organization, compliance, regulation, analysis, and reporting; and (3) offering progressive insight on financial implications of proposed decisions. 
● Participate in the generation of timely and accurate financial and management reports, ensure proper financial statement disclosures and supporting schedules, proper classification of assets, liabilities, net assets, revenues and expenses;
● Maintain relationships with banks and other financial institutions;
● Assure consistent standards across the Department for accounting policies to comply with GAAP,
● Manage daily and milestone accounting functions, including cash management
● Negotiate for cost-effective quality work and oversee ongoing results of third-party service providers in the following areas
▪ Sales tax
▪ Year-end independent audit or review of books
▪ Payroll, payroll taxes and benefits
▪ ERP software support (Sage)
● Oversee proper accounting of inventory
● Maintain hardware and software for accounting and finance
● Provide support to owners on fiscal operation
● Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of budgets, monthly actual expenditures, interim reports, budget modifications, final reports, and self-audits.
● Develop specific and cross functional work assignments for Department personnel, develop and train Accounting Department personnel, review work performed by Accounting Department personnel, supervise, develop, and evaluate Accounting Department personnel, maintain overall responsibility and accountability for Accounting Department operations;
● Solicit bids and review major vendor proposals and contracts as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and required by CFO/Owners 
Education/Experience Preference: 
· BA/BS in accounting, business or related field.
· CPA preferred.
· Minimum eight to twelve years work experience with all element of in-house accounting as a manager or director.
· Excellent organizational and analytical skills, along with process/project management abilities and an acute attention to detail.
· Highly polished written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
· Proficient computer skills, specifically in Microsoft applications, accounting software, and databases. Sage experience preferred.
· Working knowledge of manufacturing and distribution preferred.
· Basic knowledge of operations and administration.
· Proven leadership and staff development skills
· Strong work performer in a high demand setting with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time and content sensitive manner.
Strong business focus and an ability to present information to a financial and non-financial audiences.
