SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Program Director

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate prevention education groups using the Positive Action curriculum at each school site.
• Identify and refer students in need of further services to appropriate means of necessary help.
• Provide indicated prevention counseling for students in need at each school site; provide one-on-one brief goal-oriented skills training at those sites identified specifically for individual work.
• Maintain open lines of communication at each assigned site by means of verbal communication, e-mail, and telephone.
• Maintain participant confidentiality at all times.
• Maintain group and individual records in accordance with agency procedures and procedures prescribed by contracts with vendor agencies.
• Maintain all records in a timely and accurate manner.
• Be familiar with the Policies and Procedures manual.
• Prepare and present cases for review by supervisor, as required.
• Maintain professional certification and/or licensure.
• Keep practices updated by utilizing professional literature and training events.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Perform duties without violating any ethical codes, state or federal codes or requirements.
• Obey all city, state, or federal laws and rule and regulations.
• Provide services according to the standards set (includes a personal and team expectation of productivity).
• Represent the agency at all times by action, referral, and verbal communication; serve on task forces as requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Prefer a general/basic understanding of group facilitation, as well as general/basic knowledge of documentation, confidentiality, and ethical guidelines for practice.
• Should possess basic therapeutic skills, oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field as specified in the DSHS grant requirements.
• Prefer training in child and/or adult counseling, family counseling, and prevention.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.
