Ceva Animal Health is Hiring a Seed Inventory Specialist Near Kansas, KS

Seed Inventory Specialist
Location: Lenexa, KS

Job Summary and Purpose:

This position is responsible for the control, maintenance and accounting of all master and working seed and cell lines for the manufacture of animal health biological vaccines. Incumbent will have responsibility to ensure accurate inventories are kept along with controlling and tracking the dispensing of master and working seed and cells for both industrial and R&D use.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

The Seed Controller will have the following key duties and responsibilities:
  • Control and maintain accurate accounting and inventory of all Biomune master and working seeds and cells
  • Maintain security of master and working seeds and cells and ensure proper authorization is in place before check out of seeds or cells
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures related to the control of seeds and cells as well as others related to working at Ceva
  • Perform routine cycle counts and ensure any discrepancies are recorded, reported and investigated
  • Retrieve and deliver seeds and cells ensure accurate accounting is recorded when seeds and cells are checked out and back into inventory
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic based inventory entry including reporting on inventory levels at least monthly
  • Schedule and coordinate the calibration and maintenance as required for the seed and cell freezers
  • Monitor and report on inventory levels
  • Work with industrial, supply chain and R&D groups to ensure proper communication of inventory changes

Technical / Functional Competencies:

  • Must have some background and experience in setting up inventory control processes and systems
  • Must be able to use various IT software to record and report on inventory

Qualifications:

Education - minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a life science with some experience or background in biological science preferred

Work Experience - 3-5 years of experience in inventory control support roles

Other (consider certifications, specialized knowledge and/or training, etc.) Experience with USDA regulated industry preferred, and experience working with liquid nitrogen is an asset

Physical Requirements:

  • Position will require bending, twisting, lifting, standing about 70% of the time in order to retrieve and replace inventory in and out of freezers
  • Position will need to be able to move, walk and drive from different buildings and locations where the seeds and cells are stored

Working Conditions:

  • Position will be located at the Biomune Lenexa site but will require incumbent to travel to warehouses and other buildings where freezers for the seeds and cells are stored.
  • Position will be moving from multiple sites to ensure proper inventory and delivery of seeds and cells

Travel Required:

If any travel outside of the Kansas City area is required of this position, it will be very minimal if at all.
