We are hiring Inspectors to support our growing team in Frederick, Maryland.

Position Summary:

The Inspector will be responsible for ensuring contractors’ compliance through reviewing, interpreting, and enforcing plans and contract documents for efficient and timely inspection of the contractor’s work and shall:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Five or more years of experience in inspection of Public Infrastructure Projects.
  • Two years’ experience and accredited certification in soil and concrete testing.
  • The normal construction field tests shall be provided at the job site, which shall include, but not be limited to soil moisture/density testing, bearing capacity testing, paint thickness testing, etc., and take and prepare samples in accordance with the requirements of the construction contract documents.
  • Shall witness and document any and all required construction contractor inspection and testing services, e.g., concrete, hydrostatic pressure, leakage, disinfection, continuity, for completeness and accuracy. Concrete testing and sampling will be performed by the construction contractor under the supervision of the Inspector.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, work outside in varying weather conditions and terrain.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written format.
  • Must be able to utilize tablets and laptops to document field activities and reports.,
  • Must be a US citizen, pass background and drug and alcohol screening, and have reliable transportation.

Education, Certifications, and Experience:

The Construction Inspector qualifications for this role include the following:

  • 1 years’ experience in roadway or bridge construction inspection
  • Must be current with the following certifications or the ability to obtain within 6 months from the start date:

• Mid-Atlantic Region Technician Certification Program (MARTCP)

o Concrete

o HMA (Asphalt)

o Soils & Aggregates (Including Nuclear Gauge)

o Pavement Markings

• Sediment and Erosion Control

o Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Responsible Personnel Certification (RPC), formally called Green Card

o SHA Erosion and Sediment Control Yellow Card (when on SHA ROW)

• Temporary Traffic Control Manager

• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience operating laptop/tablet and software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Availability to work various shifts and on weekends (depending on project assignment)
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Ability to physically perform essential duties such as Walking, Standing, Bending, and lifting loads weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
