This position is focused on polyurethane and epoxy chemistries

Our client is a leading manufacturer of mold making and casting materials. We are currently looking for a highly motivated, organized Q/C Manufacturing Chemist to join a rapidly expanding company.

Pay: 80K-95K

Location: Onsite in Franklin, IN

Duties:

• Review formulations and procedures for accuracy and clarity before releasing batch tickets to production.
• Monitor production batches by interaction with production and QC personnel.
• Design and perform laboratory experiments to troubleshoot issues with raw materials, production batches or customer orders.
• Perform QC tests on incoming raw materials as described in QC SOP.
• Perform QC tests on production samples as described in QC SOP.
• Monitor product QC results using statistical analysis to maintain or modify specifications.
• Mixing and curing test samples.
• Run Titrations, Viscosity measurements, Hardness measurements.
• Work with analytical equipment (including FTIR, TGA, rheometer, DSC).
• Hazardous chemical handling, storage, and disposal.
• Physical property testing (including viscosity, specific gravity, tensile/tear strength).
• Interact with suppliers to obtain samples or to work through raw material issues.
• Interact with customers and assist with technical support questions and inquiries.
• Perform any testing and inspection required for customer returns.
• Perform any testing and inspection required for customer complaints and product non-conformance.
• Perform additional testing as required for off-specification raw materials and batches.
• Perform additional testing, ie. Soak tests, physical properties, product application, etc as directed.
• Record and maintain all lab work in a lab notebook.
• Organize and maintain QC retain product samples and cured samples.
• Understand hazards of products through company provided training and reading SDSs and labels.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves and safety glasses) and follow all safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to understand, speak, write, and read English.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field required.
• 1 - 3 years experience in quality control function in a chemical manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Skilled in quality processes and statistical techniques.
• Experience and knowledge of polyurethane and epoxy chemistry is a plus.
• Experience and knowledge of chemical mixing and processing equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
