IT Administrator

Classification: Exempt/Full Time Regular

Reports to: Equipment Group Manager

Work Location: Lewistown, MT

Position Objective :

Position involves installing and maintaining computer hardware, software, networks, and cloud resources; provide hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all IT to include but not limited to: hardware, software, network, cloud resources and voice communications
  • Resolve IT issues, both local and remote
  • Train staff about current and potential uses of technology
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resource
  • Research current and potential resources and services and make recommendations about purchase of technology resources
  • Monitor and maintain security
  • Perform and monitor data backups
  • Perform other related duties as required

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of desktop, laptop, server, switch, router, modem, wireless access point, tablet and mobile device hardware, and cloud based resources.
  • Knowledge of software systems to include terminal services, VoIP, virtual server environments, backup and disaster recovery programs and procedures, malware and virus protection and security
  • Javascript, Powershell, and SQL knowledge desirable
  • Ability to manage a number of projects at one time; may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of users
  • Ability to handle a high volume of support calls while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to oversee in-house and outsourced IT projects
  • Must work with management to provide solutions and or ideas on how to improve processes
  • Effective verbal, presentation, listening and written communication skills
  • Display a positive, professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times
  • Must be well organized and eager to learn new technology as needed by the company
  • Must require minimal supervision
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent and IT related degree
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction. At least 70 degrees peripheral in horizontal meridian measured in each eye.
  • Must be available to occasionally travel in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming to include overnight stays.

Work Demands & Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the IT Director may have to :

  • Spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
  • Do some lifting of computer equipment, supplies and materials from time to time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods.
  • Employee may find the environment to be busy and noisy and will need excellent organizational, time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
